Privacy Policy

1. What we collect

Account details. Your email address, a display name derived from it, and — if you sign up with a password — a securely hashed version of that password. We never store your password in a readable form. If you sign in with Google we receive your email address and name from Google, nothing more.

Learning activity. Which skills you are enrolled in, which topics and documents you have completed, and when you completed them. This is what powers your dashboard, your streak and your progress bars.

Payment records. For each purchase: the amount, the skill, the plan type, and the reference IDs Razorpay gives us. We never receive or store your card number, UPI PIN, CVV or bank credentials — those are handled entirely by Razorpay and never reach our servers.

Technical data. A session cookie to keep you signed in, and — briefly — your IP address to limit repeated failed sign-in attempts. That record is automatically discarded after 15 minutes.

2. What stays only on your device

Your highlights and pen drawings on notes and cheat sheets are stored in your own browser (localStorage), not on our servers. We cannot see them. They stay on the device you made them on, and clearing your browser data removes them.

3. Why we collect it

To create and secure your account; to remember which skills you have access to; to show your progress; to process and evidence payments; and to answer you when you contact support. That is the complete list.

4. What we never do

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers. We do not send marketing emails to lists built from your account. We have no advertising on the platform at all.

5. Who processes data for us

Hostinger — hosts the website and its database.
Razorpay — processes payments and holds the card or UPI details we never see.
Google — only if you choose “Sign in with Google”, and only to confirm your identity.
Google Analytics — if enabled, gives us aggregate visitor numbers. It is not used to identify individuals.

Community groups run on WhatsApp (Meta). Joining one is optional, and anything you share there is governed by WhatsApp’s own privacy policy, not this one.

6. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie to keep you signed in. It is HTTP-only, meaning scripts on the page cannot read it. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. If analytics is enabled it may set its own cookie for aggregate measurement.

7. How long we keep it

Account, enrollment and progress data is kept while your account exists. Payment records are kept for as long as Indian tax and accounting rules require, even after an account closes, because we are legally obliged to retain proof of transactions.

8. Security

The site runs over HTTPS. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes. Course content, configuration and database files are blocked from public access at the server level. Sign-in attempts are rate limited. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously and fix issues promptly when found.

9. Your rights

You can ask us to show you the data we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and its data. Email support@skillnarrative.in from your registered address and we will action it, usually within a few days. Payment records we are legally required to keep are the one exception, and we will tell you if that applies.

10. Children

SkillNarrative is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

11. Changes

If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it. Material changes affecting how we handle your data will be communicated directly.
